Summer Student Wrap-up

Aug. 26, 2020

We have come to the end of the summer and are saying goodbye to our summer students.  It was wonderful working with them!  Here are a few messages from our students to the community.

Morgan

It is always a sad day when the summer reading program is over, but I am excited to say that as hard as this summer has been, for everyone, I am super happy with how everything went! My past two summers at the library as a summer reading coordinator have been fantastic. From in-person programming to online, then recording book readings to crafts, and even acting in Mother Goose. This summer was very different from last, but everything we had done was so much fun. I would just like to send a big thank you to all the families, volunteers, and library staff that have made these past summers wonderful, especially the families that took part in our virtual programming! (I know it must have been hard, but Thank You!) It has been a gift to get to know everyone that has been part of the summer reading program and I am thankful I had the chance to have such a great experience that helped me build skills for my education and future career. Here is to hoping that things turn around a little so the library can run another summer reading program next year!

Shayla

I just wanted to say thanks for such a fun time this summer. I know this Summer Reading Program looked very different this year but I had so much fun organizing it! We read some great books and did some super fun activities! I hope you all enjoyed your time with us as much as I did! Thanks for all the pictures, videos and comments you left us, that made all the hard work worth it!  I hope you all have a great school year and I hope to see you for the Summer Reading Program 2021!!

Working at the library this Summer was a dream come true. I learned what it is like to wake up excited for the workday ahead of me, and how comforting it is to have a team of support behind me.

Working on LITerary TEENS was such a fun experience. I learned so much from having the opportunity to plan and run a program of my design. I rediscovered my creativity, and there are so many things I wish I could have done now that the program is over. If any of the teens in my program are reading this, thank you so much for your support. I hope you guys had a lot of fun! Make sure to tell your friends about the program next year!

Mother Goose was another fantastic opportunity that taught me about team-work and dividing responsibility. The program was a real success, and I loved every minute of working on it!

Thank you to everyone who made this job such a great experience, I believe I can speak not only for myself but Shayla and Morgan as well when I say that this Summer and this Job was better than I could have imagined.
